AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. is seeking to hire a highly-motivated and experienced Medical Volunteer Coordinator in Augusta, ME. This full-time, salaried, position will work on our contract for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The position requires a strong organizer/trainer with demonstrated interest in emergency preparedness and response, public health and volunteer management. The work of the Medical Volunteer Coordinator is driven by coordination, recruitment, training and deployment of medical volunteers during public health emergencies to augment staffing shortages within the public health and health care systems. The Medical Volunteer Coordinator is responsible to coordinate and maintain the Maine CDC’s Medical Volunteer Registry.
Supervision- Works under supervision. Assignments and objectives are set jointly by immediate supervisor and employee. Follows deliverables as outlined in supporting contracts. Works alone and checks with the supervisor on deviations from deliverables. Some flexibility.
Decision making – Makes decisions that are almost always determined by specific instructions or existing policies and procedures. In rare cases makes decisions in the absence of specific policies and procedures, and/or guidance from the supervisor.
Position Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of High School Diploma, Preference for Certificate or Degree in Emergency Management and/or Public Health
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in public health, health care, emergency management, volunteer development and/or management or closely related field.
Travel: 25%-30% travel time. Travel will be required. Employees must have reliable transportation a current and valid Maine Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license or the equivalent from another state.
Schedule: While we expect the schedule to generally be a routine scheduled forty (40) hours, due to the critical nature of emergency response requirements, there may be additional requirements of time, potentially including holidays or weekends.
Technical Requirements: Position requires knowledge in the areas of volunteer management, volunteer registry platform management, public health, and emergency management. Necessary skills include project management, planning, volunteer coordination, group facilitation, communications, data collection, technical writing, and database management. Position requires ability to work independently as well as part of a team, problem solve, and provide good partner support.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and move a maximum of 40lbs; Position requires sitting, standing, bending, and repetitive movements.
Position Preferred Qualifications:
- at least two years of experience in a project coordinator/management capacity,
- managing or coordinating volunteers in real-world emergencies or drills and/or exercises
- familiarity with all hazards disaster planning, state emergency management response, ICS/NIMS
- volunteer recruitment and/or conducting training programs for public health and medical volunteers Maine’s public health infrastructure and/or Maine’s Medical Reserve Corps Units policy, procedure, and protocol development and writing response plans Completion of FEMA trainings including: IS-100, IS-200, IS-300, IS-400, IS-700, IS-800 and HSEEP
- administrative experience in grants management and reporting
