Governor Janet Mills held her 5th Annual Opioid Response Summit on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the Cross Insurance Arena In Portland. This year’s theme: The Power of Prevention, Focus on Families. There were over 1000 people in attendance and the day included keynote speakers and breakout sessions, with the voices of persons in recovery featured prominently again this year.
Carlton Hall, Prevention Science Expert, CEO of Carlton Hall Counseling, LLC delivered the opening keynote “The Fierce Urgencies of Now: The Power of Prevention for our Families.”
We were surrounded by champions at the event Elaine Zimmerman, Regional Administrator, HHS, Administration of Children and Families, Taylor Bryan Turner, SAMHSA Region 1 Assistant Regional Administrator, Dr. Yngvild Olsen, CSAT Director, Beth Connolly, Asst Director, White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, Scott M. Gagnon, Director, New England Prevention Technology Transfer Center and Dr. Michael Botticelli, former Drug Czar and very pleased to be joined by our friends at the New England Addiction Technology Transfer Center and the New England Mental Health Technology Transfer Center.
